A little write-up about my first trip to a hammam - btw, desertxxrose, I seem to remember you talking about a woman with breasts to her waist - was that in Fez? Because I think I saw her too! I tried not to stare :)
charquaouia-deactivated20120116 asked: Fes is amazing! Definitely check out the Belghazi Museum :) and just a heads up, you can go into mosques in Fes, just make sure you're modestly dressed! Wear a scarf around your neck for when you walk around Fes, so if you decide to go into a mosque, you can just throw it on your head. Al-Karaouine is a must in Fes (the first university in the world), you don't want to miss it!
Thank you so much! I’ve been in Morocco for almost a week now, and it’s so wonderful - most people are completely friendly and helpful! A number of older women have taken me by the arm right and led me right to wherever I’m going, when I’ve asked them for directions. It’s like having hundreds of grandmas. :)
Thanks for the advice about mosques - I’ve been wearing a scarf anyway, in an attempt to ward off the young men, and I’ll be sure to check out some Fes mosques.
Is the Belghazi Museum the one your family runs? The picture you posted looked fabulous. I’m heading to Fes this afternoon; not sure where I’m going to stay, but it’s the low season, so I’m sure I’ll find something.
Shukran!
